| It feels like a new beginning New thoughts, new ideas, new drive, new projects, new friendships I wiped my office desk free from clutter before I left 11 days ago 11 days after Life after Taipei What lies ahead of me? Schedules have already started flowing in Living has never stopped being fruitful 3 karaoke sessions lined up, a birthday to celebrate, a cosy housewarming luncheon, bible study lessons to prepare, Theodicy sessions to attend, 2 small group fellowshipping, mum's dental appointments, Sandy Lam's concert to attend in KL, 2 vaccines to take, weekly badminton games, gym sessions to go to, how much time is there left? :p Will anything exciting come forth? Will the comments keep streaming in? Are they only comments? New thoughts for cafe creation New ideas for craft work, gift ideas and outings New drive at work New projects to meet deadline for the Christmas season New synergy between the foursome Is the other new friendship really beckoning? Patience, she says, "Patience".

| | he said he has noticed that i admire the moon a lot...and why should that be surprising, "You're the Jade Bunny." the jade bunny is a night owl. the turtle has been accustomed to be a morning person due to his work... Poems read Mr Wu's poems that day...Saturday to be precise before meeting him for our UP 3D movie ... i thought it was a sweet date ... simplicity is beautiful ... the chemistry ... the mutual attraction ... the unspoken ... and the spoken ... "i'm happy today." he said Chemistry What is Chemistry? Let's see what Google turns up with.... Wikipedia says this...... Chemistry (from Egyptian kēme (chem), meaning "earth"[1]) is the science concerned with the composition, structure, and properties of matter, as well as the changes it undergoes during chemical reactions.[2] It is a physical science for studies of various atoms, molecules, crystals and other aggregates of matter whether in isolation or combination, which incorporates the concepts of energy and entropy in relation to the spontaneity of chemical processes. Modern chemistry evolved out of alchemy following the chemical revolution (1773). Disciplines within chemistry are traditionally grouped by the type of matter being studied or the kind of study. These include inorganic chemistry, the study of inorganic matter; organic chemistry, the study of organic matter; biochemistry, the study of substances found in biological organisms; physical chemistry, the energy related studies of chemical systems at macro, molecular and submolecular scales; analytical chemistry, the analysis of material samples to gain an understanding of their chemical composition and structure. Many more specialized disciplines have emerged in recent years, e.g. neurochemistry the chemical study of the nervous system (see subdisciplines). it's hilarious how static electricity was felt by him.....ok, reading what's below...so what we have was the same charge repelling? oh my... "So what does all this have to do with static shocks? Or static electricity in hair? When you take off your wool hat, it rubs against your hair. Electrons move from your hair to the hat. A static charge builds up and now each of the hairs has the same positive charge. Remember, things with the same charge repel each other. So the hairs try to get as far from each other as possible. The farthest they can get is by standing up and away from the others." Back to What is Chemistry in Romance? Infatuation When two people are attracted to each other, a virtual explosion of adrenaline-like nuerochemicals gush forth. Fireworks explode and we see stars. PEA or phenylethylamine is a chemical that speeds up the flow of information between nerve cells. Also, involved in chemistry are dopamine and norepinephrine, chemical cousins of amphetamines. Dopamine makes us feel good and norepinephrine stimulates the production of adrenaline. It makes our heart race! These three chemicals combine to give us infatuation or "chemistry." It is why new lovers feel euphoric and energized, and float on air. It is also why new lovers can make love for hours and talk all night for weeks on end. This is the chemistry or the love sparks we all seek.
Chocolate What does chocolate have to do with love and chemistry? Actually, chocolate is full of phenylethylamine, that chemical cousin of amphetamine. So, when we say we are in love with chocolate, there is a certain chemistry there! oh yes, he likes chocolates. ;/ Five Questions Timeeeeeeee: 1. What was the last song you heard? Steps of Maya from Keiko Matsui's "The Ring" It was a nice gesture...paying for my CD. 2. What were the last two movies you saw?UP 3D ... he was very excited because it was his 1st 3D movie...ok, it's just my 3rd, and we both agreed it's more "happening" to watch a 3D with real people acting in it, aka, non-animation. :) Overheard...wasn't as good as I expected it..it having Daniel Wu starring in it was no doubt the primary drawing point. Secondary because it's a thriller. 3. What were the last three things you purchased?

| | | in the quiet of this night...at 2.41am, re-visiting a site I haven't stepped into for more than 2 years...the feeling is surreal...a tinge of sadness creeps in...sadness over the mistakes I've made these past 2 years...but then, i wouldn't have grown and matured if not for those wrong choices...those experiences...we can only shine stronger and get better... it's even uncanny, reading what i typed 2 years ago, "I know it has been a long time....since I've last updated...it feels surreal sometimes...how I can go about busy with all that has been happening in my life of late and forget about this weblog of mine...." eventhough I used the same word, "surreal"...that surrealistic feeling is different. It is interesting reading back our past blogs, our past diary entries...how much i have travelled...and perhaps 2 years later, i might just return here again and re-read this and that nostalgic feeling creeps in... Have I arrived? at understanding life better? Definitely! My spiritual walk has really matured and now, i have a bunch of fellow mates in a small group which became the reason why i even caved in to having a face on facebook. haha...the bunch of mates have been really a supportive group, lotsa fun too. We do need each other to grow. I'm just curious if i still have readers to this blog...so if you have read this, do drop a comment..it might be a reason for me to return here to blog more often. ;p I miss Taipei what brought me back to Xanga...i wonder too...maybe it's just wanting to feel nostalgia...i was at a sandy lam fan website listening to her recent new song sung at the recent Soda Green's concert in Taipei a few minutes ago...watching that you tube video, seeing Sandy warmly clothed in her red thick vest reminded me of the cool weather in Taipei...was there a month ago......oh my, how time flies....enjoyed every bit of my walks there...Taipei is big IMO...there's still much which i have yet to explore....and having spoken Mandarin at work today to a someone in Dalian....it just jolts me...i think my Mandarin is getting better..and very natural...having to speak that everyday in Taipei...i really miss speaking Mandarin without having to have a mish mesh of Singlish in it... December Days.... 2 years ago, the economy was booming...the majority of the world population didn't anticipate this bad bad financial crisis that we are all stuck in at the moment...the sub-prime mortgage fiasco....and a year later, Lehman Brothers collapsed...the dominos are falling...at times like these, do we reflect on what is the most important thing in life? Is it still possessions and money? What is most valuable to you now? My heart still aches for him...I'm having a lump in my throat now...how it hurts...the lump...my deepest wish hasn't changed; from the day I first knew him till today...how long has it been....it's been 2 years. I pray that he will walk close to God one day again. December Days...how they make us introspect...at how far and much we've walked in the past year...it's been a year of honest reflections, getting into awkward situations and being able to get out of the bitterness and look back and laugh at ourselves...a year where there was also fear and then fear dispelled because there is God to lean onto, to remind myself that even if i have cancer, there will be no fear because God will always be with me. He gives us a boldness to face the truth, the reality of life that nothing else can provide...that sort of boldness to face tomorrow. He is indeed our Pillar of Strength! this sense of calmness, this heart of compassion, this automatic tears, it's the Holy Spirit in me. Five Questions Timeeeeeeee: 1. What was the last song you heard? “Swarmed By Loneliness/寂寞擁擠” 寂寞擁擠在歡笑中掉淚 在呼吸中暈眩 在熱鬧中孤單 在人群中覺得累 凍得顫抖的夏天 寂寞擁擠的氣味 而我在回憶 捕捉失落的你 遺漏的章節 成為獨撐場面 青春劃成碎片 迴旋漫漫長街 愛的喘息如雷 我走遠 或許 我該道別 或許 如此最美 寂寞擁擠 Close Up Video Video by bigcat9
2. What were the last two movies you saw?Cape No. 7 (a very Taiwanese film) and Mian Mian...also a Taiwanese production...heh, saw Mian Mian at a movie theatre at XiMenDing and guess what, for the first time in my life, I was the only person in that theatre! 3. What were the last three things you purchased?
(1) berries for tomorro's potluck with the gals ..there's strawberries, blue berries and Cherries! :)
(2)....beetroot, an apple, these 2 are the ingredients for tomorrow's morning weekly juice with pulp :) (3) TCC dinner with Normie, my bff....heh 4. What four things do you need to do this coming week? (i) wrap more Christmas pressies...;p....
(ii) carry on with my sms mailing list of morning devotions which a handful appreciates :) it is really a wonderful feeling when they reply to me, on the relevance of that passage. :) and then i know God has used the passage to speak to them. (iii) go back to work on Sunday :) (iv) pay Bills...haha 5. What five happy moments did you have in the past week? (i) when PBL smsed on how the sms ministered to her.
(ii) when RL shared he is in Singapore till 21st. (iii) when the assurance of the Holy Spirit's presence is felt. (iv) the restart of B's sms mailing list! ;p (v) finally meeting up with my bff.

| Wowie! What can I say? I know I've been away for a very long time since I've last posted, even the layout of the weblog entry has changed...hahaha...well well, I hope none up here who knew me personally actually had the thought that I "might have gone away from the face of this earth", occur in their mind. Hee hee...apologies if so. Well, Life cannot have been better. 2005 has been a Good, Well Balanced year. It has the not so good times as I saw my health not as good for the first 9 months but Lo and behold, all thanks to God, i regained my strength in the last quarter and I must say the last quarter seem to be like the fruits of any labour in the first 3 quarters...it was a good harvest, what with me winning the First prize in Suntec's Food Fest and the prize is something that came in perfect timing. I was planning to go watch Sandy Lam perform in Hong Kong in November last year but really wasn't sure if it was such a good plan after all cos staying only 4 days 3 nights really wasn't sufficient for me. Well, you've got to understand that Hong Kong has always been The Place that I've wanted to visit but never did and this pining and longing has taken as long as ... what, for 10 whole years but i sure did receive the definitive confirmative answer that Hong Kong I will go and Sandy Lam's concert I will watch when I received that fateful (definitely pleasant, though totally surprising) phonecall from Suntec Office, informing me that I have won First Prize in the recent Food Fest Lucky Draw. I must confess that when I first received that call, I thought it was those hocus pocus timeshare sort of calls, till i heard, Loud and Call that the caller is calling from Suntec Office, definitely reputable and that means, I really did win First Prize...and what did she say the prize was, a 4 days 3 nights in Hong Kong, flying via CX or SQ and it is a ticket for 2 pax?!?!?! And then, it was really good to hear that not only the blocked off period for travel was lifted by Chan Brothers for my request but they also acceded to my request to stay at Harbour Plaza Metropolis, which is just next to the Hong Kong Coliseum! And because of the silly blunder caused by their HK agent by the name of Pinky (trust HongKongers to come up with such names like Apple and Jelly and Water;p), who forgot (can you believe it?) to book us for our first night at HPM, we were upgraded to their partial Harbour View for our 5 nights with them. I must applaud the staff at HPM. They handled the situation tremendously professionally well. It is a hotel I will surely go back again, should I go watch another HK concert. Hee hee. Our first night was at this business suite at this hotel along Canton Road, of which name, I cannot recall ;p The windows were smaller over there as they didn't enjoy the space that HPM had with the view but that Biz Suite Room was definitely bigger than HPM's and we were really right next to the First Ferry Terminal. To think that all these took place 3 months ago and I can still remember almost every detail so vividly, just shows how much I enjoyed myself in Heung Kong, despite the cramminess experienced in Wanchai, or the to and fro teleconversation I had with Pinky before she decided to pay the taxi fare for our trip to that Canton Road Hotel, I really didn't have much unpleasant experiences to share about my week day. Shot an average 100 shots per day on my digi and sure did do alot of walking in that Autumn in Hong Kong. I was already missing Hong Kong after I came back from that place and this friend of mine actually said he will go with me, sometime again, soon, only to chicken out when I brought up the subject a few weeks later. Haha. Hong Kong is safe to travel around alone, really. Macau didn't feel safe. That place near the Ferry had that "air" from Johor Bahru that spelled, "Beware of hit and run thieves". I liked the congee from Tang Chao tremendously. And of course, meeting up with Ken-san at Sandy Lam's last day of her 4 days concert was really nice. He was most kind to get his HK friend to help us buy our tickets for Sandy's concert and even bought so many second hand CDs of Dick Lee from Japan! These are all pretty old CDs of Dick Lee which can no longer be found off the shelves from the CD shops here. Thanks again, Ken-san! It was a nostalgic feeling meeting up with him, as he showed me his pretty sharp pictures of the Taiwanese singers he took at the live singing lounge in Taipei, which he frequently patronises these days. The bus ride to Stanley was most romantic and the bus fare was so cheap! The hilly route was very scenic as we passed by Repulse Bay along the way and the return route saw the express bus passing by Ocean Park. I did my adventurous bit by going to Museums in Sheung Kai Wan and Chai Wan. I went goo goo gaa gaa over Bandai toys and that TitBit shop called Okashi Land which all train stations never failed to have a branch of this chain. Our most delightful shopping day was at New Town Plaza at Shatin. Snoopy Land was simply colourfully delightfully fun and cheery. It was a good way to end our 2nd last day of our tiring walking trip. SoHo and the Mid-Levels Escalator was bohemian but a little too crammy and steep for my travelling companion. I thought Canteen was quite cool but of course, Tang Chao's congee and soya bean curd is many more stars better than the thick chunky char siew from Canteen at IFC. I thought I saw Stephenie as I walked passed that Vietnamese Restaurant at Lan Kwai Fong and what strange fate that would be, to bump into someone you always bump into, even in Singapore and there again, we were only separated by that thin glass of the Restaurant's. If it was really her, she was viewing some digi shots from her female dinner companion. Oh yes, we spotted Ren Xian Qi on our way back from Macau. The Ferry had docked at Tsuen Wan Terminal and we were the last to leave the ferry and there, in the opposite direction, Ren Xian Qi and his entourage also spotted us as we made our way out from the pier. It was kinda funny cos he had that startled look that read he was surprised to still see people around kind of look and I had that, "you looked really familiar" sort of stare. Haha. Anyway, it happened too fast for us to ask for his autograph but it sure did make our third last day in Hong Kong eventful and at least, we can boast to say we did see a superstar in person, afterall, we were stepping our feet in the Hollywood of the East! Onflight CX, the Steward who was serving us looked like a better and younger version of Patrick Tam! He definitely got me charmed. Still remember him telling me into my eyes,"I know I still owe you the stationery." Hee hee hee...
Oh well, that was what happened in mid-November. Had our last Discipleship class upon my return. The breaking of bread and dipping in the "wine", which was our Last Supper together felt special and apt in our closing of our past 9 months together. Long enough to mother a baby in a female's womb. It was a 9 months spent which I shall always feel grateful for. The Holy Spirit did touch me that 9 months ago, as I seriously considered if I should sign up for this Discipleship Course. I still remember what went through my mind was,"If I am going to miss this chance, who knows when this chance will come by again and it will just mean I will never read the Bible once through again." I thank God for his grace, in making me aware of this fact. I have grown spiritually much during this course. Even TW could see the change in me, the sparkle in my eyes as I shared with him sometime in the 3rd quarter what I've learnt week after week. And come the last quarter of 2005, I was enlightening much to my friend who has been really interested in Christianity. I never felt possible in the past that someone like him will ever be interested in God and Christ and what following Jesus meant but God has shown that if we pray earnestly, God do answer our prayers and in his time, he will reveal his power to us. Few weeks ago, my friend was sitting next to me on the pew, had his best attention to the sermon preached and he did return again to listen and learn a fortnight ago. At the break of dawn today, i read from his email that he is ready to join the Alpha Course. I prayed hard on Sunday that he will join. I can only give thanks to God for answering my prayers again. Or was God just choosing him to be saved. This is something I will have to understand in the weeks ahead. Joy from your dear friend walking closer and closer to Christ is something that beats physical gratification.
GRATITUDE
Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.
- Sir Winston Churchill
It's late...I'd better sleep. I hope to return again real soon. If not, amuse yourself by checking who has been checking on my blogs...haha...a cold chill ran up my spine as I spotted the below from my site reader...off Google's search engine....
"Forbidden City+Dick+Sale+Musical CD"
Do you think Dick Lee might actually be reading all those juicy anecdotes from moi about my "encounters" with him, by chance, as one jolly day, on his scout for his CDs on the web? LOL...before I really close, I must say, we last took a picture or two with him at the Botanics. He was in his RED colour superman shirt. He was most polite, most gracious and accommodating as he agreed to pose so smilingly for all his fans there (who probably only knew him from his role as Singapore Idol's Judge, cos they are only Teens!) A few there had to ask me to lend them my black marker, one was crazy enough to get Dick to sign on her laptop! My male friend couldn't stand me having that picture i had with Dick as my wallpaper on my hp. hee hee, and actually had the sheepish look to ask me how come my picture with him aint on the screen instead? Well, well, felt Dick's warm body heat on my back as we posed long in this group photo taken by his asst, Cheryl Kong...kakaka. Sometimes, I wonder if DL actually recognises Shirl and me but just pretend he doesn't...DL was surprised to see me have his HK Rhapsody album and told me to keep that album well cos the last he saw ebay selling it for USD80. There you have it, he actually checks out the market rate of his vintage pieces!!! Laugh Out Loud...i really won't be surpised if he might just tred upon this blog of his die-hard fan! If so, "Hi, Dick!" | | |
